Meet the Washburn FamilyFr George Washburn was born in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine in 1947 and raised in Schenectady, NY in the Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Columbia Bible College, Columbia, SC in 1969 with a BA in Biblical Education, and from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, IL in 1972 with an MDiv.
After seminary he spent a year in post-grad internship at Peninsula Bible Church, Palo Alto, Ca. and another year from 1973-74 on helping start the house church that eventually grew into Sts. Peter & Paul Antiochian Orthodox Church, Ben Lomond, Ca. He served there in one capacity or another until 2006. The highlight of these years was meeting Kh. Suzanne in August 1974 and marrying her in December 1977. He received a law degree from Santa Clara University; from admission to the Bar in 1979 his practice focused on real estate law.
Khourieh Suzanne is a California native. She was raised in Berkeley where her father was a professor of psychology and her mother, a native of France, gave French lessons and worked with international students. Kh. Suzanne enrolled at UC Santa Barbara and graduated with a B.A. in Health Studies. She worked in oral surgery assisting and managed the Northern California Oral Surgeons' Society. Along the way, she developed an interest in gardening and managed the financial side of Fr. George's law practice. In addition to running Blossoms, her small professional gardening service, Kh. Suzanne has pursued formal studies toward hospice chaplaincy and currently spends full time in the Clinical Pastoral Education program at the Mt. Diablo campus of John Muir Hospital, Concord, CA.
The Washburns have four children (Lauren, David, Gregory and Elise) and are delighted grandparents of Alexander Michael Rogers, born to Lauren and her husband Jason on December 7, 2006 and Katherine Grace Rogers, born January 3, 2009.
